The Baldwin Realtors Foundation has announced the launch of a new grant program designed to assist first-time home buyers in Baldwin County.

According to a news release, this initiative underscores the Foundation’s mission to promoting safe and healthy living environments for families in Baldwin County through housing-related grants and financial assistance in times of need.

The Baldwin First Home Grant offers $1,000 to first-time home buyers and an increased grant amount of $1,500 for buyers with a military affiliation. Per the release, these funds aim to ease the financial burden of purchasing a home, helping buyers achieve their dream of homeownership.

“We are incredibly proud to launch this grant program and provide meaningful support to first-time home buyers in our community,” Leanne Murray, CFO of Baldwin Realtors, said in the release. “This initiative reflects our ongoing dedication to making homeownership a reality for more families in Baldwin County.”

To qualify for this grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• First-time buyer status: Applicants must be purchasing their first home.
• Realtor representation: The purchase must be facilitated by a Baldwin Realtor member.
• Purchase price limit: The home’s purchase price cannot exceed $350,000.
• Primary residence: The home must be the applicant’s primary residence and located within Baldwin County. Mobile homes qualify if purchased with accompanying land.
• Mortgage term: The home must be subject to a mortgage with a term of at least 15 years.
• Mandatory training: Applicants must complete a first-time home-buyer training course before closing on their home.

HOW TO APPLY

Following the home purchase and closing, grant applications must be submitted within 90 days.
The required first-time home-buyer training course is designed to empower new buyers with knowledge about the purchasing process and the responsibilities of homeownership. From saving for a down payment to managing ongoing maintenance, the course provides invaluable guidance for navigating the journey to homeownership.
