Students at the new Baldwin Preparatory Academy received a 2024 Chevy Trailblazer as a donation from Terry Thompson Chevrolet on Dec. 2.

Terry Thompson said in the press release from the event, "We feel it is an obligation to give back to the community and this vehicle will be used for educational purposes in their automotive technology program. This program is cutting edge where graduates can be ASE certified technicians upon graduation and it's our privilege to be associated with the academy."

According to the academy's website, the automotive technology program trains students in efficient automotive diagnostics, repair and maintenance. The program is designed to place students directly in the labor market rather than at a four-year university.

As previously reported by Gulf Coast Media, the academy offers students career and technical programs such as automotive engine repair, diesel repair, construction, welding, aviation, HVAC/plumbing and electrical, mechatronics engineering, health sciences, cybersecurity, graphic design, teacher cadet academy, culinary arts and cosmetology and barbering.

General Manager Ty Thompson was at the Dec. 2 vehicle donation event along with General Sales Manager, Wayne Sanders, and other Terry Thompson staff to present the car to a group of students. The students seemed excited to receive the new equipment as they applauded at the presentation of the car.

Ty Thompson said in the press release that they "encourage other business owners to also make donations to the various aspects of the academy that help shape our future generations for rewarding careers."
