FAIRHOPE — The Baldwin Pops Band, along with the Eastern Shore Choral Society, will present a free outdoor park concert on Memorial Day.
The concert will kick off at 5 p.m. Monday, May 29, at Henry George Park in Fairhope, which is on the corner of Fairhope and Magnolia avenues.
Conductor Wayne Fillingim will lead the band in performances of "The Circus Bee," "Salute to the Armed Forces," "Shenandoah," "Washington Post" and "Rolling Thunder." The Eastern Shore Choral Society, directed by Mary Katherine Kilgore, will sing "America, the Beautiful," "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and Irving Berlin's "God Bless America."
Guests should bring chairs or blankets for seating and are encouraged to bring a picnic supper. After intermission, there will be a children's parade with flags.
The concert is supported by the City of Fairhope. Each spring, a scholarship concert is performed including local high school seniors. Donations for the John Allen Memorial Scholarship are accepted at any concert or by mail to Baldwin Pops Band, P.O. Box 38, Fairhope, AL 36533.
All concerts are free.
