Laine Hicks of Baldwin County High School’s Sports Clays team won second place in the Intermediate division of the Trap Shoot Finals hosted by Emmanuel Christian School at Dixie Trap & Gun Club in Matthews.

Hicks’ score of 80 came after a very exciting and fierce shoot-off. Fellow team members Carson Mixon finished in fifth place with Corbin Crysell (seventh place) and Myles Hadley (10th place) not far behind. In the Senior/Jr. Varsity division, Reed Roberts finished in seventh place and Payton Wasdin in 10th.

The BCHS Sporting Clays team is now gearing up for the state competition, set for June 8-10. The state contest is comprised of three disciplines: Skeet, Trap, and Sporting Clay. The Skeet & Trap competition will take place at Red Eagle Skeet & Trap Club in Childersburg and the Sporting Clays Championship will be held at Selwood Farm in Alpine.

The final trophy presentation and ceremony will take place June 10 at Selwood Farm after the Sporting Clay Event has concluded. BCHS will participate in all three disciplines.

The BCHS Sporting Clay Team is a program for students in sixth through 12th grades to actively compete. Coaches include Jason Crysell, Gayland Hadley, Billy Roberts, Jimmy Dale Shiver and Rick Wahlert.
