Baldwin County leaders elected to key Alabama Farmers Federation committees

Posted

Several Baldwin County residents were elected to leadership positions during the Alabama Farmers Federation's 103rd annual meeting Dec. 8-9 in Montgomery.

The event brought together farmers and agribusiness leaders from across the state to shape policy, allocate research funding and enhance educational initiatives.

Trey Colley of Baldwin County was elected to represent District 8 on the State Young Farmers Committee. District 8 encompasses Baldwin, Butler, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe and Washington counties. Colley succeeds Dillon Turk of Mobile County, who served the committee for four years. The Young Farmers program emphasizes leadership development, addresses challenges facing modern agriculture and promotes a stronger understanding of agribusiness.

In commodity leadership elections, Eric Street of Baldwin County was named to the State Soybean Committee alongside Richard Parrish of Randolph County, Brady Peek of Limestone County and Mike Neal of Jackson County. The committee works to direct state agricultural policy, fund vital research and organize educational programs for farmers.

Tim Mullek, another Baldwin County farmer, was elected to the State Cotton Committee. Joining him were Thomas Kirkland of Dale County, Sid Phelps of Tallapoosa County and Adam Sessions of Mobile County. The Cotton Committee plays a key role in guiding policy and allocating resources for Alabama's cotton producers.

Additionally, Chris Brown of Baldwin County secured a position on the State Greenhouse, Nursery & Sod (GNS) Committee. He was elected alongside Jason Powell of Chilton County, Shane Pack of Marshall County and Lance Byrd of Shelby County. Committee members help coordinate policy, education and research efforts for Alabama's greenhouse and nursery industries.

The Alabama Farmers Federation, the state's largest agricultural organization, continues to rely on these committees to advocate for farmers' interests and drive progress within Alabama's farming communities. For more information, visit www.alfafarmers.org.
