Baldwin County hosting teacher fair, focusing on minority outreach

The Baldwin County ACT-II/Path-to-Peace Minority Teachers Initiative is helping get the word out about the upcoming Baldwin County Teacher Fair.

In 2016 minorities made up 6.6% of the county teachers. Today that number is 8.19%. Minorities made up 11.17% of the new hires last year.

Baldwin County is hoping for even greater improvements, this year, starting with a record number of minority applicants at the Teachers Fair.

The initiative is also offering a Minority Educator's Scholarship to qualifying high school seniors or Baldwin County natives who are education majors in college.

They must be a recognized minority, entering the education field and willing to agree to return to Baldwin County to teach. Five $1,000 scholarships are available. The application deadline is April 15.

For more information about the scholarship, email psalm82.3and4@gmail.com.
