Baldwin County High School students claimed top honors at the sixth annual HOSA Sports Medicine Competition, held Jan. 31 at Foley High School.
About 50 students from Foley, Spanish Fort and Baldwin County High School competed in the event, which tested their knowledge and practical skills in sports medicine. Participants first took a written exam, with the top 10 students advancing to hands-on skill assessments to determine category winners.
While finalists demonstrated their expertise, other students engaged in first aid, spine boarding and splinting exercises led by members of the Foley Fire Department.
Baldwin County High swept both the written and hands-on skills categories and set a new speed taping record of 25 seconds. The second-place time was 27 seconds, and third place finished at 32 seconds.
