A thrilling afternoon of polo, community and giving back unfolded in May as the Baldwin County Education Coalition hosted its first-ever Charity Chukkers Polo Event in Silverhill.
Presented by the Shirlee's Kids Charitable Foundation, the event drew 230 attendees eager to support local students while enjoying high-energy matches, raffles and festivities under the Alabama sun.
Through donations from attendees and sponsors, the coalition raised $37,228 in support of Palm Project, an initiative that stocks every public school in Baldwin County with essential care closet items free of charge to students and schools.
The goal of Palm Project is to make a tangible difference in local schools, ensuring that every child has what they need to succeed. During the 2023-2024 school year, the project provided more than 18,000 essential items to 43 schools across the county.
The day's competition featured a club match won by February Farm and a pro-am match victory by Radcliff Homes/No Trees. Sydney Warren earned MVP honors while Floro, ridden by Lauren Sattler and owned by Luis Ansola, took home Best Playing Pony in the club match. Fara, owned and ridden by Hutch Radcliff, was named Best Playing Pony in the pro-am match.
Raffle prizes went to Amy Phillippi, who won a Boat Blok, and Mac Campbell, who scored a bottle of Blanton's Bourbon.
The event, which featured a stylish hat contest, divot stomping and giveaways, proved to be more than just a day at the polo field — it was a celebration of community and a commitment to ensuring every student in Baldwin County has the tools they need to thrive.
