Baldwin County is taking a step forward in addressing its growing population and judicial needs.
Earlier this month, Baldwin County Commission awarded a $7.59 million bid to Rolin Construction Inc. to build the new Baldwin County District Attorney building in Bay Minette.
The facility marks the beginning of a multi-phase plan designed to accommodate additional judgeships authorized by the Alabama Legislature in 2023. The county's rapid population growth has put a strain on the existing judicial system, making the new judgeships and facilities essential to maintaining an efficient and effective justice process.
The new building will also pave the way for renovations to the Bay Minette Courthouse. Once completed, the District Attorney Building will serve as a key hub for legal operations in Baldwin County, allowing the courthouse to undergo updates while minimizing disruptions to court proceedings.
"This building will serve as a cornerstone to allow for significant forthcoming renovations to the Bay Minette Courthouse," a post on the commission's Facebook page said.
Construction is expected to begin soon.
