Baldwin County to commemorate Veterans Day with parades, music and community gatherings

As Veterans Day approaches, communities across Baldwin County are gearing up to honor and celebrate those who have served.

From solemn ceremonies and parades to musical tributes and BBQ fundraisers, a range of events will take place to express gratitude for the sacrifices of veterans. Whether you're looking to attend a prayer service at sunset, join in a downtown parade or enjoy live music at a local hangout, there are multiple opportunities to show your support for veterans this November. Here's a guide to some of the events happening in the area.

2024 POWER OF GIVING AND VETERANS SUPPLY DRIVE

What: Baldwin EMC's Power of Giving event will include a veterans supply drive and blood donations for local hospitals. Help support veterans in need by bringing supply donations. Additional Info: For more information, visit baldwinemc.com.

When: Thursday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Where: Baldwin EMC, 19600 State Hwy 59, Summerdale

DRIVE-THROUGH VETERANS PARADE AND CELEBRATION

What: Celebrate veterans with a drive-through parade followed by bingo and a social at Brennity. After the parade, join residents and team members for Stars and Stripes Bingo and an entertainment performance by the Wing Beats. Participants are encouraged to decorate their vehicles. ELBERTA VETERANS DAY PARADE

What: Elberta's Veterans Day Parade invites the community to honor and celebrate those who served. The parade will travel through Elberta's main streets, concluding at Elberta School.

Where: Route begins at Illinois St., proceeding to Hwy 98, Co. Rd. 83, Oak St., and ending at Elberta School.

FAIRHOPE VETERANS DAY PARADE

What: Join Fairhope in honoring veterans at a downtown parade featuring local military service members and patriotic displays. The parade will feature Fairhope community groups and veterans' organizations in a show of gratitude and support.

When: Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10–11 a.m.

Where: Fairhope Civic Center, 161 N Section St., Fairhope

ANNUAL VETERANS DAY BBQ FUNDRAISER

What: Celebrate Veterans Day with a BBQ lunch fundraiser to support local veterans, hosted by VFW Post 5660 and Fat Boys Grilling. Pre-order by calling (251) 928-8259.

When: Saturday, Nov. 9, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. (or until sold out)

Where: VFW Post 5660, 950 Nichols Ave., Fairhope

Price: Racks of ribs $30; BBQ plate $15 (includes sides)

2024 CITY OF FOLEY VETERANS DAY PARADE

What: Honor military veterans at Foley's annual parade, organized by American Legion Post 99. Following the parade, join the community for a ceremony, fellowship and a complimentary lunch for veterans at Post 99.

When: Monday, Nov. 11, beginning at noon

Where: Parade starts at Max Griffin Park, 209 W. Verbena Ave., Foley. Ceremony at American Legion Post 99, 2101 S. McKenzie St., Foley

SALUTE TO VETERANS AT THE COASTAL ARTS CENTER

What: Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach presents its annual tribute to veterans, featuring two rounds of live music from artists like Mutt Cooper, Steve Dean and Will Nance. Call (251) 981-ARTS for ticket information. Enjoy a night of music and honor the service of veterans.

When: Monday, Nov. 11, 6–9 p.m.

VETERANS DAY SUNSET PRAYER SERVICE

What: A sunset prayer service honoring veterans, held at the scenic Henry George Bluff Park. Gather for a peaceful tribute at sunset to reflect on the sacrifices of service members.

When: Monday, Nov. 11, from 4:45–6 p.m.

VETERANS DAY PROGRAM AND PARADE IN NORTH BALDWIN

What: Join North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce's Veterans Day Program, starting with breakfast, a parade and ceremonies honoring veterans. Lunch plates available for purchase at Blackburn Park. Proceeds from lunch plates support veteran services.

When: Monday, Nov. 11, starting at 8 a.m.

Where: John F. Rhodes Civic Center, 301 McMeans Ave., Bay Minette

VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION AT POST 44 GULF SHORES

What: Celebrate Veterans Day with a Flag Retirement Ceremony, live musi and a complimentary meal for Post 44 members. Hosted by the Sons and Auxiliary of the American Legion. Enjoy food, drinks and live music by Zack Chavers from 1–4 p.m. Veterans receive three free draft beers or well drinks.

When: Monday, Nov. 11, 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m.

VETERANS DAY AT THE HANGOUT

What: Honor Veterans Day at The Hangout with live music, tributes and a special offer of a complimentary Hang 10 burger for veterans with military ID. Join the festivities with live music, hourly moments of gratitude and special tributes.

2024 VETERANS DAY CEREMONY IN PENSACOLA

What: The Veterans Memorial Park Foundation of Pensacola invites active duty military personnel, veterans, families and community members to attend the Veterans Day Ceremony featuring keynote speaker Captain Lee Hansen, U.S. Navy (Retired). The event will include music by the Blue Anchor Belles and presentations including the ringing of the bell at the Marine Aviation Memorial Tower. The ceremony honors military veterans and features a special presentation of the Bud Day Award. For more details, contact the Veterans Memorial Park Foundation.

MOBILE POPS VETERANS DAY CONCERT

What: The Mobile Pops present their annual Veterans Day concert with patriotic music, military marches and a recognition of veterans. The concert takes place in the Medal of Honor Aircraft Pavilion and features a tribute to all branches of the military.
