Baldwin Bone & Joint's hand therapist earns top credential, expands care for Baldwin County patients

Posted

Patients across Baldwin County needing specialized hand and upper extremity care have another reason to feel confident in their recovery, thanks to a significant milestone achieved by one of Baldwin Bone & Joint's own.

Taylor Lewis, an occupational therapist with Baldwin Bone & Joint, has earned the prestigious Certified Hand Therapist designation, highlighting his advanced skills and commitment to patients who need focused rehabilitation for shoulders, arms, wrists and hands. Certified Hand Therapists are required to have at least three years of clinical experience and more than 4,000 hours dedicated to treating upper extremity conditions. Earning the credential means passing a comprehensive exam and staying up to date with best practices through recertification every five years.

"We are proud to congratulate Taylor on earning his credential as a Certified Hand Therapist—a significant professional milestone," said Dr. Allison Hunter, fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon at Baldwin Bone & Joint. "Achieving this certification reflects Taylor's dedication, expertise and commitment to his patients. Baldwin Bone & Joint — and all of Baldwin County — is fortunate to have him on our team."

Lewis brings more than 10 years of clinical experience to the practice, including seven focused on hand therapy. He works alongside Hunter to care for patients with a wide range of conditions affecting the upper extremities.

A graduate of Belmont University in Nashville, Lewis earned his Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and holds licenses through the Alabama Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. He also has leadership training and proudly served as a sergeant in the United States Army National Guard.
