Attorney Liam Scully announces run for Baldwin County Circuit Court Judge

Posted

Local attorney William E. "Liam" Scully III announced his candidacy for circuit court judge in Baldwin County.

In a statement released June 5, Scully highlighted his experiences practicing law for over 15 years, leading a general practice firm , Scully Law, P.C., which represents clients across Baldwin County and South Alabama. He is also the municipal prosecutor for the City of Bay Minette and previously worked as an assistant district attorney with the Baldwin County District Attorney's Office.

"I have spent my career in a courtroom, representing families, doing pro bono work, helping businesses, prosecuting and defending cases. I have always fought to see that people were treated fairly under the law. I'm running for circuit judge because I believe that Baldwin County needs an experienced judge who is fair and committed to the rule of law," Scully said.

A lifelong resident of South Alabama, Scully graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School and received a undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Dallas and graduated cum laude from Cumberland School of Law in 2009, where he was a member of the nationally recognized Trial Team.

After his time in law school, Scully joined the Baldwin County District Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted serious felony cases and handled civil tax appeals on behalf of the Baldwin County Revenue Commissioner. He entered private practice in 2012, where he worked alongside his father, Bill Scully, the current Baldwin County District Court Judge, before establishing his own firm in 2017.

Outside of his legal work, Scully was elected president of the Baldwin County Bar Association in 2020 and is involved in the South Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Program, providing pro bono legal aid to those in need. He also holds an at-large seat on the Baldwin County Republican Executive Committee and is involved in various local organizations.

"I love the culture and values that have made Baldwin County the best place in the world to live. Judges who are committed to the fair and equal application of the law are critical to preserving that," Scully said. "I can be that judge, and I hope the people of Baldwin County will give me that chance."

Liam and his wife, Anna, reside in Daphne with their two daughters, Molly and Jane. They are long-time attendees of Christ the King Catholic Church.
