Attend fraud prevention seminars in south Baldwin

The community is invited to join state Rep. Frances Holk-Jones (District 95) and the Better Business Bureau as they discuss ways to recognize and avoid scams as well as local resources that are available if you do fall victim.

Three identical sessions will be held across District 95 in south Baldwin County. Attendees only need to come to one session. A light lunch will be served for those who register.

Each session will include the following speakers and topics:

Recognizing and avoiding fraud
  • Senior scams – Monde Donaldson, vice president, Better Business Bureau of Central & South Alabama
  • Veteran scams – Dorothy Dorton, associate state director of outreach for Lower Alabama AARP
  • Investment fraud, cryptocurrency and pig butchering – Nick Vonderau, education and public affairs manager, Alabama Securities Commission
  • Medicare scams – James Roberson, regional coordinator, South Alabama Regional Planning Commission Area Agency on Aging
Resources available for victims
  • Better Business Bureau – Monde Donaldson
  • Alabama Securities Commission – Nick Vonderau, education and public affairs manager, Alabama Securities Commission
  • Elder abuse – Kristi Deason Hagood, Baldwin County assistant district attorney
  •  Local law enforcement, including representatives from the Fairhope Police Department, Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, Foley Police Department and Robertsdale Police Department
