Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola has once again earned a prestigious spot as one of the top-50 cardiovascular hospitals in the U.S., marking the eighth time the hospital has been included on this elite list.
According to a news release, the 2025 recognition, presented by Fortune and Premier, Inc., highlights the hospital's continued excellence in heart care.
The Pensacola hospital is one of just six Florida institutions to make the list this year, standing out for its exceptional performance in areas such as patient experience, mortality rates, readmissions and cost efficiency. Premier, a healthcare improvement company, evaluates over 900 U.S. hospitals on 23 metrics across five categories, including inpatient mortality, average length of stay and the effectiveness of cardiovascular treatments.
"It certainly fills our entire clinical team here with an immense sense of accomplishment to see a Pensacola hospital shine on the national level," Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola President & CEO Will Condon said in the release. "I'm thankful to our cardiovascular team for their tireless work in achieving this honor. For generations, we've devoted ourselves to the health of Northwest Florida and our associates' commitment ensures we will do so for years to come."
The significance of this achievement goes beyond rankings. If all U.S. hospitals performed at the level of the 2025 honorees, it is estimated that 14,000 lives could be saved. Cardiovascular disease remains a leading health issue in the U.S., with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reporting that a heart disease-related death occurs every 33 seconds.
Dr. Mark Grise, an interventional cardiologist at Ascension Sacred Heart, echoed this sentiment.
"This honor is a recognition of every colleague on the cardiovascular team who has helped Sacred Heart Pensacola stand out and provide some of the best heart care in the country," Grise said.
In addition to its cardiovascular excellence, the hospital is home to the Regional Heart and Vascular Institute, the largest cardiovascular health center in Northwest Florida. For those seeking specialized heart care, Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola continues to serve as a vital resource in the community.
