Emily's Closet is set to host its annual prom boutique on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the former Bay Minette Elementary School.
The event, which transforms a classroom into a boutique-style shopping experience, offers young ladies the opportunity to select a prom or pageant dress in an inviting atmosphere – completely free of charge.
Dresses will be arranged by size on racks, allowing attendees to browse and "shop" for the perfect gown. Those planning to attend are encouraged to park in front of the Bay Minette Elementary School gymnasium and follow posted signs to the boutique.
Emily's Closet was founded in 2008 by the Heritage Women's Club to honor Emily Rose Parker, a Bay Minette teenager who tragically lost her life in an automobile accident in 2003, just before the start of her senior year at Baldwin County High School. The initiative continues to celebrate her memory by ensuring young women in the community have access to formal attire for milestone events.
The program relies on the generosity of local donors, and the Heritage Women's Club is currently accepting contributions of prom dresses to replenish the boutique's inventory. Monetary donations are also welcomed to support the project's mission.
