Ann “Ren” Alford Hinote

Ann “Ren” Alford Hinote passed away Monday, June 20, 2022. She was a native of Bay Minette, Alabama, and a resident of Montrose, Alabama.

Ren graduated from Baldwin County High School in 1964 and Huntingdon College in 1968 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. At Huntington, she was chosen by her peers to serve as the vice president, then president, of the student body.

During a busy and productive life, Ren combined commitment to her family with service as a teacher, realtor, speaker, and community volunteer. As her husband assumed executive positions that took the family to Mississippi, she acted as hostess and ambassador for the growing catfish industry, serving as the inaugural president of the Catfish Women of America. She was a talented writer of memoirs, nonfiction, newsletters, poetry, and children’s stories. Additionally, she was a valued editor that strengthened the work of many others. She was a beloved Sunday School teacher and administrator at First Baptist Church, Fairhope, for over 20 years, where she also served on numerous committees guiding the ministries and expansion activities of the church.

Ren Hinote was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-two years, Samuel I. Hinote. She is survived by her daughter Amy Elizabeth Hinote of Fairhope, AL; two sons, Lt. General Clint (Myra) Hinote of Fairfax Station, VA; David Michael Hinote of Montrose; three grandchildren, Meg, Hunter and Holly Hinote of Fairfax Station, VA, and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church of Fairhope, Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 10 a.m.  The family will receive friends at the church from 9 a.m. until the service time.

Interment will follow in Montrose Cemetery.
