The Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County will host America Recycles Day on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its facility, 15101 Terra Bella Dr. in Suumerdale.

The free community event encourages residents to bring recyclable materials and learn more about proper recycling practices in Baldwin County. The first 100 guests will receive a free tote bag designed to help collect recyclables at home.

The celebration will feature food trucks, arts and crafts, live music, a bounce house, face painting and other family-friendly activities. The venue is both family- and ADA-accessible, with on-site parking available. Organizers said the event will take place rain or shine.

Visitors can take part in "Recycle Smart" tips and sorting demonstrations, tour the Solid Waste Disposal Authority's Education Facility, meet staff members, and sign up for curbside recycling.

At the same time, the City of Fairhope will host a free community shredding event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 451 Pecan Ave. in Fairhope. Open to the public, the four-hour event gives residents a chance to safely dispose of sensitive documents, old bills and confidential papers.

Participants can use the convenient drive-up, drop-off service to recycle shredded materials responsibly while protecting personal information and helping the environment.

These events is part of the national America Recycles Day initiative, which promotes environmental awareness and community engagement in sustainability efforts across the country.
