Voting is open for the 11th-annual America's Best-Looking Cruiser Contest, with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) joining a litany of highway patrol and state police agencies nationwide competing for this American Association of State Trooper (AAST) award.
Contest photos are selected through popular vote and displayed in the AAST annual calendar, which is used to help benefit education scholarships for members' dependents. ALEA's 2024 submission features its new Dodge Challenger parked in front of the USS Alabama, as a tribute to Alabama's heritage and a reminder of the state's defense and maritime legacy. A Bell 407 helicopter — part of the agency's Aviation Unit — is also prominently shown above the cruiser and iconic battleship. This year's winner will earn the Best-Looking Cruiser Award and be given the cover spot on the AAST's America's Best-Looking Trooper Cruisers 2025 Wall Calendar.
"Each year, we look forward to participating in the National Best-Looking Cruiser Contest," ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor said. "It's a friendly competition between state agencies and engages citizens to support and interact with law enforcement in a positive way. We often look for locations or iconic scenes that reflect our state, and this year we are proud to pay tribute to the enduring legacy of the USS Alabama and the brave men and women who served aboard this great battleship."
To get ALEA on the 2025 calendar cover, votes can be placed at www.surveymonkey.com/r/BestLookingCruiser2024 — the official voting site for all states. Voting will close at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 29, and calendars will be available for purchase on the American Association of State Troopers website on Oct. 1.
"The 11th-annual National Best-Cruiser Contest is an exciting and engaging event, but it also serves as a reminder of the dedication and professionalism exhibited by state troopers and law enforcement agencies across the country," said Colo. Jonathan Archer, ALEA's department of public safety director. "It is a testament to their unwavering commitment to upholding justice, protecting communities and ensuring the safety of all citizens."
