ALDOT to resurface portion of US-98

Posted

The Alabama Department of Transportation will soon begin a project to resurface a portion of the US-98 (SR-42) from west of Elberta city limits to the Perdido Bay Bridge.

The scope of the project includes 11.687 miles (approximately MP 69 to 81) of planning, paving and striping operations as well as performing guardrail improvements.

Motorists can expect nighttime lane closures for the portion between Elberta and Breman Road and daytime, weekday lane closures between Breman Road and Perdido Bay Bridge for planning, paving and striping operations with spot closures for guardrail work.

Weather-permitting, work will begin this week with daytime operations. Motorists should follow all traffic control signage and use extra caution and reduced speeds in the work zone.

The $2.9 million project was awarded to Mobile Asphalt Company LLC and is anticipated to be completed in Summer 2023.
