Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo's Senior Wednesdays program offers reduced admission

The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is bringing back Senior Wednesdays beginning Jan. 8 and running through Feb. 26.

Each Wednesday in January and February, all guests aged 62 and over will receive $10 admission to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests are encouraged to check in by 3 p.m. to ensure they have plenty of time to explore the zoo.

Each day includes keeper chats and animal learning experiences that are included with admission. A full daily schedule can be found at www.alabamagulfcoastzoo.org.

Wednesday's schedule includes:
  • 9:15 a.m. – South American Bird Chat
  • 10:45 a.m. – Animal Walkabout
  • 11 a.m. – Ruffed Lemur Island Keeper Chat
  • 2 p.m. – Big Cat Keeper Chat
  • 2:15 p.m. – Aviary Feeding Keeper Chat
  • 2:45 p.m. – Barn Keeper Chat
The adventures below can be added on to your zoo visit, offered daily:
  • Giraffe feeding – 10-11 a.m. and 2-3 p.m. ($5 per person)
  • Sulcata tortoise feeding – 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m. ($5 per person)
  • South American adventure with the sloths – ($24.95 per person)
  • Destination Madagascar with the lemurs – ($24.95 per person)

Adventures and keeper chats are dependent on favorable weather conditions.
