AL Sea Turtle Stranding and Salvage Network opens registration for 2025 training workshops

Posted

The Alabama Sea Turtle Stranding and Salvage Network (STSSN), an initiative created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), has announced dates for its 2025 training workshops, offering both in-person and virtual sessions for volunteers assisting with stranded sea turtles along the state's coastline.

The workshops, which are mandatory for all STSSN participants, will provide essential training on proper response and reporting procedures. Volunteers must register and attend one session annually. Contact the Alabama Coastal Foundation (ACF) or visit www.joinacf.org to learn more about joining the STSSN.

In-person training will take place from 1-3:15 p.m. on March 13 at Gulf State Park's Education Center and on March 20 at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab's Shelby Hall. A virtual training option will be available after March 20, with a link to a pre-recorded session sent to registered participants.

Registration is required, and those signing up for multiple participants should note the number of attendees from their organization. Only the individual registering for virtual training will receive the Google Meet link.
