AFJROTC test skills during Arcade Game Day

DAPHNE — Inclement weather can't get the AFJROTC unit at Daphne High School down. When their planned Field Day got cancelled due to the rain-soaked field, they took the competition to the arcade inside Mitchell's Sports Bar & Gaming Co. in Daphne. There, they created an Arcade Game Day instead.
Inside, the cadets battled it out over air hockey, pool, basketball, dartboards, motorcycle and car racer games, card games and more. A popular match was the boxing bag game, where cadets punched a boxing bag and the game recorded the power of the hit. Also ever popular was UNO, where eight cadets were able to get to know each other – and also throw down some "Draw Four" cards.
Most importantly, the cadets were able to bond and make new friends as they played the name game with grade levels before enjoying a lunch of burgers and hot dogs.
Not the original plan, but the first Arcade Game Day was a success. And, unit leadership says, the promised outdoor Field Day will take place early next semester.
