FOLEY — Get ready. A new kind of magic is about to take the stage.
This summer, Brandon Styles won't be the only one making things disappear or sparkle at OWA. His daughter, Baylee Jade, is set to make her own magic in his family-friendly comedy magic show — marking her official debut under the lights, in front of a live audience with a trick that carries personal history.
Earlier this month, Styles announced his daughter's upcoming debut, noting the shows will be every Wednesday from May 28 through Aug. 6 at Brandon Styles Theater in Foley.
"It's kind of recent," Baylee Jade told Gulf Coast Media after a behind-the-scenes rehearsal, "but I've grown up around (the stage), so it's pretty natural to me."
Her debut will feature the same routine her father first learned when he was about 6 or 7 — a disappearing act with a little family flair that Styles said is "really special."
Baylee Jade said it's a mix of "exciting" and "nerve-wracking," but anticipation is rising faster than a levitating assistant. Gulf Coast Media was invited to a rehearsal to get a sneak peek at the sleight of hand and spotlight-ready chemistry this father-daughter duo is conjuring. The full interview with the Styles family — including mom Diamond (who is also part of the show) and their scene-stealing pup Moo Moo — will be published in the next edition of Beachin' magazine.
"Gulf Coast Media heard about our daughter being part of the magic show this summer and asked if they could attend a rehearsal. We're honored and excited to see the story they're putting together!" Styles' Facebook page posted the afternoon after the interview.
Until then, the countdown to opening night has begun — and there's a new name on the marquee worth watching.
Packed with a variety of large-scale illusions and up-close tricks, the show blends magic with laughs, fun props and plenty of audience participation — making it Alabama's only regularly scheduled magic show, according to the Brandon Styles website.
Tickets range from $25 to $49, with discounts available for families who book multiple shows. Children 3 and under are free if sitting on a parent's lap. Every ticket comes with exclusive discounts to select OWA restaurants, and group or VIP options are also available.
