A time to celebrate

ROBERTSDALE/LOXLEY, Alabama — Residents throughout the area took time out of their busy schedules over the weekend to celebrate Easter.

Pictured here are festivities from The Lighthouse of Baldwin County’s annual Easter Eggstravaganza on Friday, April 19, and from the Town of Loxley’s annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 20.

Gray skies and chilly weather greeted visitors to Garrett Park on April 19 for the annual Easter Eggstravaganza. The annual event is part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April.

Lighthouse Executive Director Rhyon Ervin, along with other staff and volunteers, greeted guests. The Robertsdale Volunteer Fire Department served hot dogs following the hunt and members of Alabama State Troopers and Loxley Police Department brought vehicles to display.

Other activities included jump houses, face-painting, free sno cones for children and Easter egg hunts separated into age-appropriate zones.

It was a different story in Loxley on Saturday as clear skies and warmer weather were the theme of the day.

Coordinated by the Loxley Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary in cooperation with local churches, the event included games, fun activities, face painting and a visit with the Easter bunny.

Children ranging in age from infant to 12 years old were split into four different age groups with prize eggs available on the ball fields at Loxley Municipal Park.
