Looking for something to do this weekend along the Alabama Gulf Coast? Whether you're a foodie, a history buff or just looking to enjoy some local entertainment, there's no shortage of activities to keep you and your family busy.

From the sizzling excitement of a tailgate cook-off at The Wharf in Orange Beach to a day of historical reenactments at Fort Mims and even a night of brain-teasing trivia in Foley, there's something for everyone. Music lovers can also enjoy live performances at the Warrior Legacy Ranch in Robertsdale or at the Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope, while Jeep enthusiasts will find plenty to love at the Jeep Invasion in Historic Blakeley State Park.

TRIVIA NIGHT FOR LITERACY AT FOLEY CIVIC CENTER

What: Get ready for a night of brain-teasing fun with The South Baldwin Literacy Council at the Foley Civic Center. Gather your friends, test your knowledge, and compete in this exciting in-person trivia event, all while supporting literacy in Baldwin County. This year's theme is "Your Favorite Children's Book," and awards will be given for the best table theme and trivia champions. With eight rounds of 10 questions, a silent auction, live auction and the thrilling "Heads or Tails" game between rounds, there's plenty of excitement to go around. Bring your own food and drinks — alcohol is allowed — and enjoy a night of laughter, friendly competition, and a chance to win fantastic prizes.

When: Saturday, Aug. 23. Doors open at 5:00 p.m., trivia begins at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Foley Civic Center, Foley

Price: $25 per player or $200 per table (8 players per team).

DELTA EXPLORER BOAT TOURS

What: Explore the scenic Alabama River Delta on the "Tours of the Northern Delta" aboard the Delta Explorer, offered by Blakeley Historic Park. The tours run from Aug. 23-25, starting with a sunset cruise on Friday evening. Additional trips are available throughout the weekend. The cruise offers a chance to visit significant sites such as the Mims Ferry site, Nannahubba Island, the mouth of Holley Creek Bottle Yard Lake and more. FORT MIMS REENACTMENT

What: Step back in time at the annual Fort Mims Reenactment, held on Aug. 24-25, in Tensaw. This event commemorates the historic Battle of Fort Mims, a key moment in the Creek War of 1813-1814. Attendees can witness daily reenactments of the Battle of Burnt Corn at 11 a.m. and the Battle of Fort Mims at 2 p.m. The event also features 1800s craft demonstrations, living history displays and food concessions available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The opening ceremony begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday. CONCERT HONORING VETERANS AT WARRIOR LEGACY RANCH

What: As part of the GWOT Wall of Remembrance event, Warrior Legacy Ranch will host a concert on Aug. 24, at 6:30 p.m., featuring artists from Label22 Records. Performers include Sal Gonzales, a contestant from Season 9 of "America's Got Talent," Chris Turner, Alabama's own Lochridge & Co. and special guest Stephen Cochran. This concert offers the community a chance to enjoy an evening of music while honoring veterans, servicemembers and their families. MOBILE OPERA'S "MY LIFE ONLINE"

What: Mobile Opera is set to launch its 79th season with a series of free performances of "My Life Online," a comic yet poignant opera that explores our modern-day struggle for real community and human connection. Starring soprano Cristina Bakhoum Sanchez and pianist Eric Andries, this one-act opera tells the story of Kay, an immigration lawyer who has isolated herself behind various screens — until a crisis forces her to reconnect with the world. Composed by Scott Eyerly, a professor at Juilliard, "My Life Online" premiered in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2023. Mobile Opera's production marks its professional U.S. premiere.

JEEP INVASION AT HISTORIC BLAKELEY STATE PARK

What: Get ready for a day of adventure at the "Jeep Invasion" hosted by Historic Blakeley State Park and the Southland Jeepers on Aug. 24. This exciting event features a Jeep Show, a Poker Run and a variety of raffle and door prizes. It's a fun-filled day for Jeep enthusiasts and families alike. In addition to the main events, food trucks and vendors will be on-site to keep you fueled and entertained throughout the day. The "Jeep Invasion" is complimentary with regular park admission. 2ND ANNUAL COASTAL TAILGATE COOK-OFF CHALLENGE

What: The 2nd Annual Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge, hosted by the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber, returns to The Wharf in Orange Beach for an unforgettable day of food, fun and competition. This high-energy event invites foodies, sports fans and culinary masters to enjoy tailgate-style dishes where bacon is the star ingredient. Attendees can sample delicious creations from top culinary teams, enjoy live music, participate in games and relax in a covered seating area. Competitors will vie for a golden ticket to the World Food Championships in Indianapolis in the BACON category, as well as the People's Choice Award, which comes with a trophy and prize package.
