5 things to do in Baldwin County, Sept. 16-18: Anime, Coastal Cleanup, Salute to Service

Happy Fake Fall, Baldwin County. A week of low humidity and cooler temperatures is what we have needed after months of humidity and sweltering temperatures. There are lots of events happening this weekend that will get you outside this Saturday. Start your day by getting the trash out of the splash during the annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup. Then head to The Wharf for Salute to Service or Food Truck Saturday in Fairhope. Adult Anime Club Meeting
What: Are you an adult that enjoys Anime and looking for like-minded friends? Join the Adult Anime Club at the Foley Public Library. The club is open to anyone ages 17 and over. Bring dinner or a snack to eat and the library will provide drinks. The evening will include viewing more mature anime than the Doki Doki Anime Club (ages 10-16).
When: Friday, Sept. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. The library's back doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Salute to Service at The Wharf
What: Operation ReConnect presents the second annual Salute to Service. This patriotic family friendly event kicks off with an on-site Run/Walk/Stroll at 9 a.m. and a Jeep and motorcycle beach cruise at 1 p.m. The Friends of Army Aviation will also be present all day offering helicopter rides in their Vietnam era HU-1 "Huey" helicopter (flights available Friday, Sept. 16, as well). Proceeds from the event benefit Operation ReConnect, a nonprofit that gives service members and their families time at the beach to reconnect. For more information, visit operationreconnect.org.
When: Saturday, Sept. 17, from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Price: Free to attend, tickets for helicopter rides are $75 per person

Alabama Coastal Cleanup
What: Grab your family and friends and get the trash out of the splash at the 35th-annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup. Regardless of where you live in Baldwin County there is a cleanup zone near you: Five Rivers Delta Center in Spanish Fort; May Day Park in Daphne; Fairhope Pier in Fairhope, Weeks Bay in Fairhope; Wolf Bay Kayak Launch in Foley; Little Lagoon in Gulf Shores; Gulf Shores Public Beach in Gulf Shores; Gulf State Park; or Boggy Point in Orange Beach. Food Truck Saturday
What: The Fairhope Christian Church – Disciples of Christ located in the heart of Fairhope's Fairwood neighborhood will host the Southern Sky Grill food truck. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a fun day of food, fun, music and games.
When: Saturday, Sept. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: 349 Fairwood Blvd., Fairhope
Price: Free to attend, food prices vary

Swift-Coles Historic Home Bridal Expo
What: No matter where you are at on your wedding planning journey, you do not want to miss this event. Meet with local wedding professionals one-on-one and plan your special day. Enjoy seeing the latest in bridal and formal fashion trends with a fashion show presented by Anthony's Bridal and Tuxedo. Samples of hors d'oeuvres and cake will be available.
