48th annual Stepping Out in Style Fashion Show raises over $156,000 for mammogram program

The Baptist Health Care Foundation's recent 48th annual Stepping Out in Style Fashion Show successfully raised more than $156,000, with proceeds going toward the foundation's Mammogram Fund.

This fundraiser, presented by the Women's Board of the Baptist Health Care Foundation, helps ensure that individuals in the local community have access to mammograms year-round, particularly those who are uninsured or otherwise unable to afford these critical screenings according to a news release.

The need for accessible mammograms remains vital as Baptist Health Care continues to work toward removing financial and logistical barriers for lifesaving screenings. Over the past fiscal year, the Mammogram Fund enabled 108 screenings for uninsured patients, with results indicating further action for some. Out of those screened, 35 individuals required additional testing, and three were recommended for biopsies — critical steps in early detection and treatment.

Held annually, the Stepping Out in Style Fashion Show stands as the Women's Board's largest fundraising event, drawing in a diverse crowd and featuring an array of professional and local celebrity models. The models walked the runway showcasing the latest collections from local fashion retailers, including Bluetique, Gulf Coast cabi Stylists, Dillard's and The Market and Mainly Shoes, delivering an evening of fashion with a purpose.

This year's event was made possible by the generosity of several community sponsors, including Acumen Medical Imaging + Interventional, The Averett Family, Ballinger Publishing, Bella Magazine, Cat Country 98.7 and NewsRadio 92.3/AM1620, among others. Their support plays a crucial role in the foundation's ongoing mission to provide affordable health care solutions for those in need.
