The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 23rd Annual Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast, which will be held on the National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 3, at 7:30 a.m., at the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club and Spa.
The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce presents the Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast as an event to bring our communities together for an inspirational and uplifting breakfast in conjunction with Mayor Joseph Bonner of Spanish Fort, Mayor Fred Small of Daphne and Mayor Tim Kant of Fairhope.
The topic of this year’s event will be “A Random Act of Kindness,” presented by Columbine Redemption, a foundation founded in honor of Rachel Scott. Scott was the first student killed in the Columbine High School shootings on April 20, 1999. Rachel was well-known for her acts of kindness and compassion.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, parents and community leaders developed a special program called Rachel’s Challenge, which motivates young people to positively change the way the treat others. “A Random Act of Kindness” takes this a step further into community leadership. The philosophy is that a single act of kindness can cause a chain reaction.
Brother Jim Billingim of Daphne United Methodist Church will lead the opening prayer and Rev. Jerry Taylor of Bay Community Church will close the breakfast in prayer.
Tickets for the Mayors’ Breakfast are $25. Tables of 10 are $250. Reservations must be made for this event. To RSVP contact Rose Hall at 928-6387 or Judy Wilson 621-8222.
Sponsors for this year’s event include Baldwin EMC, Mercy Medical, Hartmann, Blackmon and Kilgore, Westminster Village, South Alabama Regional Planning Commission, American Computer Enterprise, Coldwell Banker Reehl Properties Inc. and RBC Bank.
During the event, the Chamber and Mayors Bonner, Small and Kant will honor Sister Julie Guillot, of Eastern Shore Affordable Houses Inc. She will received the Community Spirit Award for her dedication of time, talents and heart to finding good homes for those in need.
The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all of the Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast Committee Members: Co-chairs Mary Brabner and Sandy Cooke, Sherry Sullivan, Sue White, Anitra Bell, Benjie Hughes, Neil Beasley and Angela Kimsey, special event coordinator for the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce.
