BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Rising junior and senior students at Baldwin County High School are invited to apply to take part in the eighth class of Junior Ambassadors for the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce (virtual students as well as home school students in the North Baldwin area are also eligible for the program). Throughout the program students will learn about the Chamber of Commerce, city and county government, the importance of community service and so much more.
The Junior Ambassador Program for the North Baldwin Chamber will graduate its seventh class of students in June of this year. Nearly 50 students have participated in the youth leadership program since inception in 2014.
“The students in the Junior Ambassador program are not only representatives for the chamber, but for the City of Bay Minette and Baldwin County High School,” said North Baldwin Chamber Executive Director Ashley Jones Davis. “These students are a link between the school and the community and are already leaders among their peers.”
Students in the program have the opportunity to interact and connect with community leaders, business professionals and elected officials throughout the program. They have the opportunity to volunteer at events, attend meetings of their local government, learn about business and industry, understand the importance of civic responsibility and experience first-hand the role of the Chamber of Commerce in a community.
“Being a part of the Junior Ambassador program has helped enhance my communication, leadership and networking skills,” said Emma Franklin, a former Junior Ambassador, class of 2019 and current student at Auburn University. “Community involvement means everything to me and has helped me tremendously socially and mentally. Interacting with professionals in the community has helped guide me towards a major in college. The program is like a family, where if I need something or need help, I know that I can count on the Chamber and its partners for support.”
The program is highly competitive as applicants must submit an essay, letter of recommendation, and complete an interview process before being selected for the program. Traditionally, only six to eight spots are available each year.
“The Junior Ambassador program meant the world to me,” said Nick Hadley, former Junior Ambassador, class of 2019 and current student at Coastal Alabama Community College. “Through this program, I have learned what it takes to make North Baldwin a great place to shop, eat and play. It has also opened my eyes to potential college and career opportunities.”
Applications for the 2021-2022 Class are now available and can be picked up at Baldwin County High School, the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, or downloaded from the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce website (northbaldwinchamber.com).
Application deadline is Friday, May 14 at 3:30 p.m. Applications must be submitted in one, complete packet. No late applications will be accepted.
